The global trend is very popular, and it’s getting stronger by the minute! Check out these four easy ways to incorporate ethnic prints into your decor:
Add Pillows or an Ottoman
Add punch to your neutral sofa by throwing on some ethnic-patterned pillows. Already have solid pillows? Then pepper in some patterns that contain similar colors to the ones you already have. Top it off by upholstering your ottoman with a global print.
Frame It
Traditional ethnic prints are so unique and detailed that they work as art when framed (Check out artist Christie van der Haak’s tapestry-esque collection). We like the idea of using one large frame, like in the office below, but it would work just as well if you framed many coordinating patterns. This idea can be executed with wallpaper, too!
Use Drapery & Skirts
A quick way to bring the global trend into your home is with drapery or a skirted table. We like blurred ikats. And drapery doesn’t have to be just for windows—even at an entrance to a room, it makes a grand statement.
Skirting a sink counter top or table is a really easy fix, too. Using a staple gun or Velcro, attach fabric to the piece of furniture. We think the pink fabric below makes the vanity pop.
Upholster a Headboard
Do you have plain white sheets and bedding? Bring a bit of color and the tribal look into your bedroom by upholstering your headboard and tying the new pattern in with a throw pillow. Play on zig-zag shapes with a clean cut chevron striped drapery.
