Color is one of those decorating elements that can really make a room sing. Take note from these celebs who impeccably use strong hues to bring life into their homes:
Denise Richards’ glam L.A. mansion exudes femininity. Amidst natural hues throughout the home are rooms peppered with hot pink, a color she fearlessly uses in both her home office and her daughters’ bedroom. Like Barbie’s dream home, the girls’ room is luxurious and playful at the same time with several shades of raspberry, watermelon and neon pink. Damask wallpaper and draped fabric at the head of the bed make it regal enough for a princess (or two princesses)!

With the help of interior designer Jeff Andrews, Kourtney Kardashian’s recently-listed Calabasas home feels like a color-lover’s dream. “When we first started decorating, I wanted all white walls and for everything to be really simple,” she says. “Then I started saying, ‘I’m too young. This is my first house: I want to have fun!’,” explains Kourtney (DomaineHome). In the study/home office, the decorating duo color-blocked the books on the shelves, arranging them horizontally, rather than vertically—a high-impact trick that anyone can do on a budget.

Julie Bowen, who is most recently known for her role as Claire Dunphy on the sitcom Modern Family, channels an ethnic vibe in her Studio City, L.A. home. She and her husband completely gutted the mid-century ranch-style space to create a floor plan built around a light-filled living room, where color is abundant. The Asian-inspired, multi-hued fabric on the chaise lounge pulls together all of the other colors in the room, which is an easy way to make several pigments work together in one space.

Giada de Laurentiis
Food Network’s Giada de Laurentiis takes a more minimalist point of view to the way she uses color in her home. Most of the interior of the home is white, which plays as a canvas to the spots where she does add pops of red and yellow, making them really stand out as a focal point.
