Florals have gone beyond their traditional reputation and are now being used in all sorts of decorating styles. From glam to retro-chic, these 4 fresh ways to decorate with floral prints will have you looking at blossoms in a whole new way.
Bright & Airy
A plain white room with white furniture can instantly be transformed with a bright floral rug. Choose one with saturated color in a contemporary pattern, then accessorize with pillows that both build from and complement the rug’s hues. For an added pop, paint your ceiling!
Traditional floral patterns get a shot of edge when done in wallpaper with a black background. Create a vignette on a small wall or entryway with a large-scale black floral wallpaper, accenting it with eclectic accessories and a zebra print ottoman or bench.
A rich silk will instantly take floral patterns to a glamorous level. Go for a bright orange and mix it with luxe metallic abstract painterly versions, as well.
Go the retro route with a recreation of ’50s painter and textile designer Paule Marrot’s upbeat floral print. Combine it with a sunny yellows & add in a modern touch with a striped ceiling.
