Spring holidays are just around the corner! Get ready for guests with these 4 easy last-minute ideas for revamping your dining room:
When we visited the Architectural Digest Home Design Show a couple of weeks ago, we saw a great idea for accommodating extra guests in your home during holidays like Easter & Passover. Sometimes you have to put two tables together to make room for more people–make it look intentional with this fun idea where one table looks ultra masculine & and the other feminine. Have the guys sit on one side and the women on the other to encourage conversation, inviting guests to get to know each other.
If you only have a few days before your guests arrive for a holiday meal, a quick fix is a statement table cloth. Take a cue from designer Alessandra Branca, who used her bold striped fabric for Schumacher to amp up her tablescape, pairing it with a fun mix of flowers as a centerpiece. “I set tables for fun,” says Branca. “They’re not too formal. That’s how I live. I love to mix old and new…and play with color.” (House Beautiful)
Springtime Place Mats
An easy way to dress up your dining room is with DIY place mats. Customize them to your taste by choosing whatever patterns you like. We love florals in an array of blue and pink for the spring season. Simply glue your wallpaper of choice to a cork place mat and top with varnish. They’re so uncomplicated to make that you could even send each of your guests home with a bundle of them as a parting gift! For full instructions, check out Katy’s post at Apartment Apothecary.
Create an impactful yet simple look in your dining room by hanging drapery over the entrance. This works best for spaces that have an open entrance and can be a great way to section off an area with an open floor plan. Either hang it from the ceiling or wall, using a bold print like this ethnic ikat. Keep the drapes closed before the meal and make a stunning reveal when the food is ready by pulling them back.
