Spring is just a few weeks away, so now’s the time to start thinking about freshening up your home for the eagerly awaited season. Check out these four cheerful color schemes that will revitalize your space:
Color Scheme #1 – Feature Color: Radiant Orchid; Accents: Plum, Celery Green, Cream
The color of 2014 is Radiant Orchid, and if there was ever a time to add it to your home, it would be Spring. Build around the bright hue with a deep plum, which anchors the space, and accent with cream & a muted celery green.
Color Scheme #2 – Feature Color: Turquoise; Accents: Dazzling Blue, Yellow, Lime Green
Bright, saturated colors play well with turquoise, creating the feeling of blue skies, budding flowers and warm sunshine. Start with neutral furniture and build the color around that. Paint or cover your walls in a turquoise hue (we like the added texture of grasscloth wallpaper) and bring in fun floral, ethnic & geometric patterns that contain lime green, yellow and dazzling blue. Pillows are an easy way to do this!
Color Scheme #3 – Feature Color: Mint Green; Accents: Hot Pink, Fern Green, Ecru
Pastels like mint are always popular as the weather warms up, but this year do it differently by pairing it with a hot pink and fern green. Add these shades to your home with floral fabric & wallpaper panels, and also with natural elements like peonies. This color scheme looks especially fresh against a canvas of white walls.
Color Scheme #4 – Feature & Accent Colors: Grey, in many shades
Grey is one of the most-used hues in decor, and we can see why—it’s versatile and creates a sense of calm. Take it up a notch this season by building a whole room around different shades of grey (you could even say 50 Shades of Grey…). Use a variety of charcoal with lavender undertones, slate and dove grey in both solids and patterns. Multiple textures will add dimension to the space—linen is a perfect addition to make the look more appropriate for the season.
