If you’ve got a solid white couch in your home or you’re looking for a quick way to transform a room, we’ve got 5 easy ways to change up your look…JUST BY ADDING PILLOWS. Check them out:
A plain white sofa can take on so many looks, depending on your pillows
If You Want an Eclectic Look
For an eclectic look, you can mix many decorative pillows in varying patterns. To make sure that it comes off as an intentional look rather than it being random, choose pillows that are of the same size and shape. In addition, unify the pillows with one common color.
If You Want a Glamorous Look
Glamour can easily be added to a space by throwing on white & black pillows that have elegant patterns like damask and lots of sheen and/or shimmer. Luxurious silks and a touch of fur make it feminine & sensual, just like a glamor girl!
If You Want an Ethnic Look
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: THE ETHNIC TREND IS EXTREMELY POPULAR. Get this look by combining ikat & kilim-patterned pillows to your sofa. We like natural browns, clay reds, and rust tones, as these colors tend to work well with most decor elements in a room.
If you Want a Traditional Look
Neutral-colored pillows are the best bet for a traditional look. We recommend solid patterns, with one small scale print built in, done in lots of textures to give the room dimension (go for wool, silk, and velvet). Also, because the traditional aesthetic is well-edited, just a few pillows will suffice.
If You Want A Modern Look
The modern look is clean, but incorporates today’s trends. Using an odd amount of pillows, fill in a couch with large geometric-patterned pillows that have some color (we recommend a bright pop of yellow) to them, but that also incorporate neutral colors (white or cream is best). This keeps the look clean and contemporary.
An Added Note on Pillows…
Size: 18″x18″ to 22″x22″ pillows fit neatly on a standard-sized sofa. Pillows that are larger create a more relaxed look. If your sofa has a low back, it’s best to choose a smaller pillow.
Types of fill: Feather & down filled pillows are luxurious and need to be puffed up, whereas Poly (synthetic) filled pillows are firmer. Poly fill is a great option for those who have allergies and for indoor/outdoor use.
