The Preppy Lookbook

Preppy– [prep-ee] noun 1. a person who is a student at or a graduate of a preparatory school. 2. a person who favors or is viewed as favoring clothing style or behavior associated with traditional preparatory schools.

The preppy look is one trend that seems to always be in vogue. Crisp white oxford shirts, navy blazers, pastel plaids, ribbon belts, loafers– you get the idea. The look was so popular in the 80s it even had its own handbook.

The rules have changed slightly in the last 30 years, with a new book to explain what today’s prep is all about, but the core of the preppy lifestyle is still the same.

Take a look and see how you can incorporate the preppy style into your home.

One color combination that is a staple in the preppy wardrobe is pink and green. This pairing brings to mind weekends in Palm Beach or your favorite Lilly Pulitzer shift dress.

The Northeast prep sticks to a more classic all-American look. Something that can easily transition from a day of sailing to drinks at the club.
