The Beacon Hill Design Studio
Featured is the Luxury Naturals Collection which celebrates a wide array of natural fibers including linen, silk, cotton, bamboo, wool and hemp. This soft palette of colors ranging from shades of ming and jade green, smokey blue and lavender with a range of natural colors exudes elegance, quality and superb craftsmanship. One of the things I found so special is that an artisanal French mill, in existence since the 18th Century with only a handful of looms produces this unique collection.

Sneak Peak of Dwell Studio
Sneak Peak: Robert Allen is launching a new fabric line this August called Dwell Studio. Christianne Lemiux, formerly a designer with Isaac Mizrahi, created Dwell Studio in 1999. Gwenyth Paltrow and other celebrities used these fresh and young prints for their kids’ rooms. As the line grew with more traditional and sophisticated prints, they also used Dwell studio for their own rooms. Watch for a stunning mix of geometric prints, reworked traditional patterns and beautiful chinoiserie fabrics in August.
A highlight of the tour was seeing the sources of inspiration for fabric designs. Fabric designers will often look through various fashion and home design magazines for color trends. It was fascinating to learn how these designers could use these images as inspiration to design a variety fabric patterns, prints and colors.
Mock ups of Robert Allen Color Books
Robert Allen created the concept of Color Books to enable interior designers to view a large group of fabrics in a specific color range. Almost every Wednesday you’ll find me in their Color Library at the D&D Building in NYC researching fabrics for our clients.
